Assistive Technology & Education

The Florida Interagency Agreement for the Transfer of Assistive Technology, signed in 2006, allows individuals with disabilities to transfer their assistive technology as they transition throughout the educational continuum. The agreement ensures that an assistive device may remain with a students as he or she moves from home to school and to post-school activities in order to assist in meeting transition needs. The agreement outlines the conditions for coordination, the authority for transfer of property by local education agencies, financial responsibilities, and other topics.

Florida's interagency agreement has been signed by five state agencies:

  • Florida Infants and Toddlers Early Intervention Progarm (Department of Health)
  • Division of Blind Services (Department of Education)
  • Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (Department of Education)
  • Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (Department of Education & Agency for Workforce Innovation)
  • Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (Department of Education)
