Michael Daniels, Executive Director

Michael received his BA in Special Education and Early Childhood Education from University of Kentucky (UK) and completed coursework for his MA in Assistive Technology at UK. Michael has been working in the assistive technology field for over 20 years with a focus on computer access and seating and mobility. He served as program director at FAAST for four years and was instrumental in the development of the statewide device loan program and the addition of two Regional Demonstration Centers. Michael has collaborated with Dr. Tony Gentry from Virginia Commonwealth University to establish a training series for assistive technology for individuals with traumatic brain injuries.

In his free time, Michael is a licensed youth soccer coach and a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America.

Eric Reed, Deputy DirectorEric joined FAAST in April 2015 following a thirteen year career in the banking industry. Eric is excited to trade in the corporate banking world for the opportunity to now work with individuals with disabilities throughout the state to find the funding they need to acquire assistive technology. He works closely with individuals throughout the application process, putting his experience in consumer and small business lending as well as his knowledge of financial and credit education to work.

Eric grew up in St. Petersburg and graduated from Auburn University. He is a member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church, loves to camp with his family, is active in Cub Scouts and youth soccer, and is a passionate Auburn football fan.

 

 

Kelli Fontaine - Statewide Director of Development and Program Services

Matt Holloway - Director of Strategic Planning

Matt joined FAAST in early 2017 as a contracted IT and Marketing Consultant. in August, 2017 he was brought on board as the full time Director of Strategic Planning with his background in sales and digital marketing. He spent a few years working at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL working in direct care of people with disabilities. It was then that he realized that he needed to do something. FAAST has been a great place to offer help to a wide range of individuals all across the state. In his free time, he likes traveling and spending time outdoors.

Alisha Joyner- Receptionist

Alisha's knowledge is diverse due to her consistent indecisiveness. In addition to receiving her Associate of Arts from Tallahassee Community College, she also holds licenses and certifications from North Florida Cosmetology Institute and the Bartending University of North Carolina.

Whitney Harris - Comptroller


Whitney is an eighth generation Floridian and first generation person with a disability. She holds a BAS in Orthotics and Prosthetics from St. Petersburg College in 2012. After the completion of her residency in Denver, CO, Whitney became a Certified Prosthetist by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics. Learning that her passion was in disability advocacy and not patient care, Whitney switched career paths and returned to Florida to work in the non-profit industry before joining the team at the FAAST as Comptroller in February 2018. 

She fills most of her free time through her volunteer roles, such as the secretary for the Association of Youth Leadership Forums, a long-time volunteer at Florida’s Youth Leadership Forum and council member for the Florida Independent Living Council. In what free time remains, Whitney enjoys baking, re-potting her succulents and spending time with family and friends.

Susan Foster - Statewide Device Loan Coordinator

Susan was raised with a brother who has a
developmental disability. Susan received her
degree as a Legal Secretary. After 5 years of
working in the legal field she realized her heart was
with children who have disabilities. She worked in
the school system for 17 years with children who
had varied disabilities. The last four of those years
were as a sign language interpreter. She worked
with deaf and hard of hearing for 6 years, then
became an AT Specialist. She has worked for FAAST for the last four years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tim McCann- Information & Assistance Specialist

Tim McCann- Information & Assistance Specialist

A native of New England, Tim came to Florida in 1988. Tim received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida. After relocating to Tallahassee, he soon found FAAST, becoming a Certified Information & Referral Specialist (CIRS). In his current position as Office Manager, Tim assists the Director of Development & Program Services in overseeing the daily functions of the FAAST headquarters.

Tim is a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Tallahassee. An a avid consumer of books and cinema, in his free time, he enjoys spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Betty Carricaburu FAAST AT Specialist

Betty Carricaburú,M.S. received her bachelor's in Elementary Education and Master's of Early Childhood Education, both at the University of Miami. She was hired in October of 2016 as the Step Up AT, AT Coach based on her bilingual skills, early education teaching experience, masters in special education, expertise in assistive technology and personal experience advocating for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her main duties consist of helping develop the Step UP AT curriculum and implementing the curriculum in different early childhood centers in South Florida. Betty works very closely with the teachers involved in the program in order to help increase AT usage in the classroom with the goal of increasing early literacy skills.
